From 'Is Dairy The New Tobacco?'

From IS DAIRY THE NEW TOBACCO?  by Gene Baur
For decades, billions of tax dollars have gone into the dairy industry.  Campaign contributions from agribusiness influences politicians to misuse government resources to keep dairy farmers in business while demand for dairy has dropped. Hundreds of millions of pounds of cheese and butter sit in reserve, and millions of pounds of milk are being spilled onto fields.
American families are mislead to believe that cows’ milk is good.  Cows’ milk is for baby calves, not humans.  We can live well and obtain all the nutrients we need, including calcium, without consuming dairy or other animal products.
Exploiting animals for food requires vast quantities of corn, soy, and other crops to feed them.  Animal agriculture is a leading cause of most  environmental threats: depletion of water and other precious resources, destruction of rainforests and natural ecosystems, the earth’s loss of biodiversity, and climate change.
Large-scale factory-farm operations produce enormous quantities of manure which is spread on fields, contaminating the land, water, and air.  The health and quality of life of the people living nearby is diminished.  Property values drop because of the foul odors and toxic emissions. Sullied groundwater leaches into streams, polluting drinking water and contributes to fish kills.
Health risks are exacerbated by the indiscriminate use of antibiotics on factory farms, which causes antibiotic-resistant pathogens. These present risks to consumers who eat contaminated food, and in the environment where antibiotic-resistant bacteria have been found in groundwater.  Formerly life-saving drugs become useless.
For decades, American schoolchildren have had cows’ milk foisted on them, along with artery-clogging cheese and other fat-laden animal products causing obesity and heart disease.
Lawmakers are quick to speak against tobacco subsidies.  Yet they overlook the fact that billions of taxpayer dollars are used to support an industry that costs billions of dollars in health problems.
Consumers are getting the message - the marketplace is adjusting. Demand for plant-based milks is expanding, and the consumption of cows’ milk is decreasing. Federal food policy should support and encourage this trend. The tobacco industry had to make adjustments, so too should the dairy industry.

Veganic Agriculture - The Best

The optimum, most healthful, most sustainable, and most compassionate form of agriculture is Veganic Agriculture.  I am fortunate enough to have the nation’s foremost Veganic Agriculture Expert, Mona Seymour from San Francisco on the Advisory Board of Raoul Wallenberg Vegan International.

Veganic Agriculture uses no animal inputs.  There is no risk of disease or antibiotic resistance from the unsafe substances animals are forced to take so that they do not perish from the horrendous conditions they are forced to endure, that are found in animal manure.

Crops are rotated and some fields are left empty (fallow).  The empty fields are amended (planted) with cover crops.  These are crops rich in nitrogen and other essential nutrients. They are allowed to grow, and develop their nitrogen and other nutrients.  Then they are plowed under.  This rich source of nitrogen provides nourishment for the next crop without the need for fertilizer.

Pesticides are not used or needed either because by the time a predator finds the crop it is looking for, the crop would already be harvested.
Veganic produce is rich in vitamins, minerals and flavor without the unhealthful fertilizers and pesticides used in conventional and organic agriculture.  It has none of the cruelty either – and that is the best part!

Solution To Rising Health Care Costs

The United States expenditures on healthcare – drugs, surgery, and chronic disease treatments are rising.  The Standard American Diet (SAD) is based on meat and dairy.  As a result, the United States spends more per capita on health care than any other industrialized nation.  At this rate, the US will spend 20.1% of Gross National Product (GNP) on health care by 2025.  And that is rising!

The meat and dairy based diet have been linked to heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, as well as other illnesses.  This is because it is high in fat and cholesterol, has no fiber, vitamins or minerals.  This fat clogs arteries, making blood pressure rise, and ultimately causing heart disease.
Animal Fat in the diet clogs cells and does not allow glucose, the end product of digestion, to enter and nourish the cells. Instead this glucose remains in the blood stream eventually causing diabetes.

The hormones, antibiotics and other additives given to animals raised for food so they can withstand the horrific conditions they are imprisoned in, and become as profitable as possible, as fast as possible, translate into abnormal cell activity in humans: cancer.
The best way to avoid these health issues with their corresponding costs both physically and financially is to avoid the meat and dairy based diet which is causing the problem.  Go Vegan for all the health and financial benefits!

“The Search For Raoul Wallenberg - The Truth” Gets 5 Stars On Amazon

Thank you for following this blog!  Your support is greatly appreciated.  I hope you will find information here that is helpful to you.

In case you have not read ”The Search For Raoul Wallenberg – The Truth”, I am happy to announce that the book just received a five star rating on Amazon.  This is the highest rating, and I am grateful to whom ever did that!

Hopefully this means the book will continue to get excellent ratings everywhere, and eventually a Hollywood Agent will wake up to the fact that this is a great story which would make a great movie.  At that point the Blogs will stop!  Until then, sit back, and enjoy the ride!

Most importantly, it is my hope that the message contained in the book about courage, compassion, determination, justice for all the travelers on Spaceship Earth – especially the most vulnerable among us -the animals, and the importance and sacredness of life will resonate, be heard and heeded by everyone.

To this end, the Raoul Wallenberg Vegan International was founded to bring this message everywhere on the planet.  Vegan International (www.VeganInternational.org) has applied to the United Nations for Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

Your continued support will help make this dream a reality.  Thank you again!
